Indiana Assisted Living Association April Newsletter Includes MedBest Blog on “Emotional Wellness”

““Prior to the pandemic, “Emotional Wellness” wasn’t a top priority for most leaders to understand or learn. Not the case anymore. Paying attention to the mental wellness of your team now is not an option. It’s a must.”
Julie Rupenski Founder, President & CEO of MedBest
Leadership is vital to any organization and possibly no more essential in our lifetime than the period we find ourselves in right now.  Weather it be a large company, a team of caregivers at an assisted living community or a family.  We certainly need to be looking out for the wellbeing of those around us.
In a recent study, the CDC reported that 40% of adults said they were struggling with mental health or substance abuse.  11% had seriously considered suicide in the 30 days before taking the survey and of these people, 22% were “essential workers.” ( Czeisler MÉ , Lane RI, Petrosky E, et al. Mental Health, Substance Use, and Suicidal Ideation During the COVID-19 Pandemic).
We at INALA are so grateful for all you do to care for your residents.  You are making a difference in the world one life at a time!  Please also be sure to take care of your teams, your loved ones and yourself.
Have a great day!
